Lecture June 10 6:00 pm, exhibition Through November 7, 2010.

This exhibition of forty landmark and lesser-known works by the renowned artist-photographer is drawn from the Carter’s holdings and a private collection.

Ansel Adams was the last major artist to subscribe to the romantic tradition of American landscape, an artistic lineage that included Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Cole, William Henry Jackson and Carleton Watkins. He excelled at capturing a glorious American West before tourism and development marked the land. His goal was “to rekindle an appreciation of the marvelous.”

In conjunction with Ansel Adams: Eloquent Light, the Carter will host a free public program with Ansel Adams’ son, Dr. Michael Adams, on June 10 at 6:00 pm. Dr. Michael Adams offers an intimate look at his father’s work. Admission is free, but because seating is limited, reservations are required. Call 817.989.5030 to register.

South Texas Wildlife Workshops

Jeremy Woodhouse, a photographer well known to PPC members, writes, "I have just returned, with a client, from a wildlife photography shoot in a hot and dry south texas. It was the first time he had ever photographed wildlife. Within three hours he got to see his first bobcat, my second in 12 years! We photographed in heat up to 104 degrees F, but there was always a constant stream of animals coming into the waterhole to drink."
